Feb. 26 Ash Wednesday Service We will have an Ash Wednesday Service at 5:30 p.m. that will include the imposition of ashes on Wednesday, February 26. Ashes on a forehead mark a person's commitment to Jesus Christ. The ashes symbolize mourning and repentance. Everyone is welcome for this service as we start the Lenten Season.
Mar. 2 Interfaith Women's Bonding Our church will be hosting an event for our area women of faith, offered by the Penn Yan Area Council of Churches on Monday, March 2, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. March is Women's History Month and March 8th, is International Women's Day. In celebration, the Women's Ecumenical Group thought it would be a great way for us to highlight women and discuss the role we play in our churches, the community, and in the world. There will be a Journey to Calvary worship service and a presentation by Rev. Sandi Perl and Rev. Lori Nickoloff to discuss how women can develop their strengths to better serve themselves and our communities. You can't host a group of church women without food, so it will end in Crosier Hall with light snacks and beverages and the opportunity to interact with one another. They request that you bring a light snack or appetizer to share with the group. Hope to see some of our Presbyterian Women there.
Mar. 5 Grandma's Kitchen Grandma's Kitchen serves warm, home-cooked meals, served with a smile. It is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week from 2:20-3 p.m. in the Penn Yan Academy Cafeteria. Forty-50% of Penn Yan Academy students rely on the school for two of their three daily meals. The goal is at least 15 churches will be involved so our church will only have to cook every 7 weeks. This has been initiated by the Penn Yan National Honor Society -- leadership, character, scholarship and service. Tuesday, March 5th is our church's second date to assist with this community project. Once again we are looking for workers and cookie bakers - Joy will be putting up the volunteer sign-up sheets soon.
Mar. 17 Supper Club Our next Supper Club will be on Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. Lea Kone, the Director for Camp Whitman will talk to us about the news from the camp! Please bring a dish to pass, a friend, and your own table service.
Apr. 9 Maundy Thursday Service In coordination with Church Life there will be a supper service at 6 p.m. This is a beautiful service with the choir singing and Communion served in Crosier Hall. We are looking for 7 people who would be willing to do readings at this service. If you are interested please let Pastor Paul know.
Apr. 12 Easter Sunday Service Our Easter Sunday service will begin at 10 a.m. There will also be an ecumenical sunrise service (more details to come).
April 25 Chicken Barbecue The Presbyterian Women will host a chicken barbecue on April 25 at Lyons National Bank.
